OPEN is proud to host a one-night-only public exhibition of final works by second-year students in RISD’s Department of Interior Architecture. The cohort is guided by Hannah Liongoren and Wesley Sanders, who co-teach Intro to Interior Studies II.

Their final project, Society in the Spectacle, asks visitors to “drift into habitable fictions, step behind the scenes, and lose one’s self within the spectacle.” At the center of their installation is a pavilion, “acting as both frame and threshold, where narrative, architecture, and performance blur.”

Students include Ferm Nunez-Flores, Joon Chang, Thao Anh Nguyễn, and Carolina Chen He (Curation Department); Jack Liu, Khushi Hardwani, Shreyasi Jindal, and Ji An Yang (Exhibition Department); and Shinwoo Eom, David Kim, Rino Nishida , and Adhiraj Singh (Structure Department).

RISD’s Interior Studies II course develops design principles and introduces students to methodological thinking in the relationship between context, scale and use. Real site situations are introduced and students develop individual design processes associating topological relationships between the interior and exterior, at multiple scales of interventions. Students will have the opportunity to explore design issues through both traditional and computer generated design.
