A Typed Treasure from 1900; a Zine Grail from ‘62

We’ve just added an amazing original to the Star Dot Star collection; hidden among works of calligraphy in a recent auction was a hand-typed drawing of a church on extremely light paper. Dated to May 4, 1900, it’s our oldest original typed artwork. We’ll be researching John N. Fry and it’s history, but for now just wanted to share it.

 

We also scored a grail: the 1962 booklet-edition of Artyping, Second Edition. This one’s been on archive.org for years but almost never shows up in the wild.

Note: These works are not on view at the RISD Fleet show right now; both are back in the archives getting processed. But do check the show out if you get a chance. On view through mid December!
